Paintball

FAQs - Paintball

Q. Is Paintball Safe?A. Statistics show that paintball is one of the safest sports around. Like all action sports though, following the safety rules is mandatory. Goggles must be worn at all times and Barrel Covers must put on immediately a player exits a field of play. At Sun Coast Adventure Park, safety is our #1 concern.

Q. What is included when I pay to play Paintball?A. You are provided with a Paintball Marker equipped with compressed air canister and hopper. You also receive ammunition (200 balls basic or 500 balls upgrade) and an approved safety goggle. Vests are available for rental at an additional cost.

Q. Why is the vest not included in the initial price?A. We are very mindful of the cost of everything these days and leave it up to the players whether they wish to rent our vest or not. Some players prefer to use their own vest, others build vests from cardboard. There was a fellow who wrapped himself in ‘Bubble wrap’. Then of course there are players who don’t use a vest or other body protection at all.

Q. Can I use my own goggles and if so will I get a discount?A. You can use your own goggles as long as it is an approved paintball goggles. Paintballs fired from a Marker travels up to 300 feet per second, the visor must be of an approved material to withstand the impact of the paintball. We do not give a discount if you use your own goggle.

Q. If I have never played Paintball before, is there someone who will give me instructions on the game?A. Yes. Before the start of each game a safety talk is given to the players. We give you basic instruction on the operation of the Paintball Marker and how to use it safely. We also explain the games to you. All games are supervised by a trained marshal who strictly enforce the rules.

Q. Can I bring my own Paintballs?A. No we don't allow you to bring your own paintballs. If after playing, paintballs are left over we store them for you until your next visit.

Q. Does it hurt when I get hit by a paintball?A. Paintballs are designed to break upon impact. The player will experience a stinging sensation. If the hit is on unprotected skin it may leave a welt or bruise.

Q. Why is it that I cannot reload my hopper with paintballs that have just spilt and fallen on the ground?A. We prohibit anyone from taking paintballs from the ground and loading it into the Marker. The main reasons for this are:
1. Paintballs become soft when exposed to the atmosphere. In that condition they do not break when they hit their target as the energy is absorbed by the more pliant ball. This causes a lot more bruising as the energy of the impact is not diffused by the breaking of the ball.
2. A Player is out when they are ‘marked’ by the paintball. If the ball does not break it does not mark.
3. Dirt invariably sticks to paintballs that fall on the ground. That dirt jams the mechanism of the Markers and often damages the seals.

It is impossible to monitor persons picking balls off the ground that they say ‘JUST FELL OUT’ as distinct from persons simply seeing ‘older’ balls on the ground and re-loading those on the pretence that they only just fell out. For these reasons we ABSOLUTELY forbid anyone from loading balls off the ground.

Q. Do I get reimbursed if my paintballs fall out of the hopper and I am unable to use them?A. No we will not reimburse you.

Q. What is the minimum age to play?

Q. When can I play Paintball?A. The Paintball courses are open at all times during the Park Open hours. During the school term the Park is open every Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM year round. The Park is open on Public holidays with the exception of Christmas day and Easter Sunday. Weekday reservations can be scheduled.
Monday thru Friday for groups of at least 10 players.

Q. What should I wear?] A. You will be running, jumping, and crawling in an outdoor area. Therefore it is recommended that you wear loose, comfortable clothing. Camo fatigues, sweatshirts, and sweatpants are excellent choices. Footwear, such as hiking boots, sneakers and combat boots are advised. It is also a good idea to bring a pair of gloves to protect your hands. We offer vests and knee pads for rent.

Q. Do I have to make a reservation?A. We encourage reservations so as to ensure that you are not disappointed by not being able to play. Usually we can accommodate "Walk Ons" but that is dependent on the crowd for the day.

Q. Do paintballs stain clothing?A. Paintballs are completely water-soluble, non-toxic, hypoallergenic and biodegradable. Any paint marks will wash out of your clothing in a normal wash cycle. Paint on your skin and hair will wash out easily during a shower.
